Walking 22nd February 2020 and watching Tour de Andalusia Stage 4

We were in Sierra Nevada for the weekend to watch the Vuelta a Andalusia stage 4 doing the ascent of Alto del Purche. We know of a beautiful place to stay in the motorhome right near the top of the hill, which also has picnic tables and is quite flat. Having stayed Friday night in Monochil we made our way to the parking spot quite early, just as well as there were some cars and other motorhomes there already. We parked up in a good spot then went for a walk, which started opposite the parking spot. Just before we started walking a group of people arrived and we thought that they were doing the same as us, there were about 20 people so got going quickly. The walk was beautiful and we did not see the other group until we were on our way back. We arrived at the parking place with plenty of time to eat some food and get ready for the race to arrive. It is a great place as it is at the top of a very steep climb out of Monochil up to Sierra Nevada so the riders are well strung out and going slow. The other walking group returned after the race had gone passed, so they must have done the long walk to a monastery and back.
