Things to see and do on your next visit to Granada

We parked our car opposite Cafe Bar Mis Gemelos at the side of a house next to another parked car. Having left home without having breakfast we had coffee and tostada, then walked to our hotel the Marquis Hotels Urban. It was centrally located right in the heart of the historical area of the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was a good size and clean and surprisingly quiet considering its location. We would definitely use it again on our next visit to Granada. We did some sightseeing then went for another coffee and cake at Cafe Pasteleria Lopez-Mezquita which does really great cakes. We then went back to the hotel to get ready for the evening looking at the Christmas lights and to have a meal. Leaving the hotel when it got dark we wandered through the streets taking in the lights until we arrived at Restaurante Vegano Paprika where we had a really lovely vegetarian meal and a nice bottle of wine. The restaurant is very close to La Puerta de Elvira (the Elvira gate) which was built in the 11th century.
The next day we visited Carmen de Los Martires which is a beautiful 19th-century house and gardens just opposite the Alhambra and can be easily missed with the splendour of the Alhambra being so close but they are well worth a visit. After that, we walked to the caves of Sacromonte which is a fair walk uphill, but it is well worth the effort if you are interested in the history of Flamenco dancing via Mirador San Nicolas which was full of people taking in the magnificent views of the Alhambra and the snowy slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Finally, we walked through the area of Granada called Albaicin to Plaza Larga where we had a coffee. The area dates back to the Moorish era of Granada and has lots of energy and culture.
Finally, we walked back to get the car only to find that it had been towed away, as it had been blocking the road during the night, so we had to get a taxi to take us to where they had stored our vehicle overnight.
